Beaujolais Wine Challenge




For the first time ever in Hong Kong, Inter Beaujolais will organise a wine challenge to unveil the diversity and quality of this eastern French region to wine lovers. A panel of top sommeliers will be invited to blind taste all available appellations in Hong Kong, namely: Beaujolais (Red, White and Rosé), Beaujolais Villages (Red and White), Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Régnié, Fleurie, Chiroubles, Saint-Amour, Chénas, Juliénas, Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent.


The aim of the competition is to promote Gamay by gathering professional insights into its characteristics, specificities and qualities. The grape is a unique grape varietal in Beaujolais. Its juicy, fresh and fruity characters are pleasurable, while its lovely tannic framework provides wines with true cellaring potential. That is why we say Beaujolais is wine for all occasions.

Everyday Bordeaux 2012 - Invitation to submit entries

 

On behalf of CIVB, Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (Bordeaux Wine Council), Sopexa once again invites wine importers to take part in the Everyday Bordeaux 2012 – the annual wine challenge to select 100 best buys Bordeaux in town.

Since 2007, the challenge has driven great attention to Bordeaux wines that are both excellent in quality and affordable for everyday drinking.

In 2011, we have prepared year-round activities to promote the winning wines:

  • The bilingual “Everyday Bordeaux” booklet with wine details, tips and contact information.
  • Announcements through press conference and advertisements.
  • Everyday Bordeaux pavilion in Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival for all winning wine importers to showcase and to sell.
  • Dedicate website Bordeaux.sopexa.com.hk and facebook fanpage http://www.facebook.com/EverydayBordeaux

There are four categories in this challenge:

Wines in each category will be blind tasted by a Panel of reputed wine connoisseurs in July 9-10. Results will be announced to importers in August.



To participate in this program, wine importers are required to submit Bordeaux wine list as per following conditions:

  • All wines must be AOCs from Bordeaux.
  • Respect the price & vintage range conditions (listed above).
  • Wines must be available in Hong Kong market from July 2012 onward. 
  • Wines must be directly imported by the participating importer. If you are not the direct importer, please obtain consent from the respective importer.
